Shukhrat Barlas: When the Bolsheviks first invaded Turkestan, there were only criminals and terrorists in their ranks

Or the Russians borrowed the ideas of the  Jadids...
Our guest the well-known historian-publicist Shukhrat Salamov (Barlas)

Continuation (part III)
C: After all, during the USSR, Uzbekistan was one of the self-sufficient Republics. Well then, there were some changes for the better..
Sh.B: Before attacking Kokand, the Khiva khanates and the Bukhara emirate, the Russian Empire first tried to sow discord in relations between these states, luring the local elite with gifts and promises. Therefore, it was easy for the Russian army to succeed, to smash and capture all three states one by one. But it was only one side of the problem.
On the other hand, the military backwardness of the local armed forces of the states of Turkestan, which had obsolete weapons and a backward medieval military structure, also affected. After all, they were attacked by a well-armed enemy who owned modern methods of warfare and had at his disposal the latest military equipment.
At the end of the Middle Ages, during the conquest of the Russian Empire, Turkestan really experienced a epoch's crisis.
Religious fundamentalism at the level of medieval scholasticism and frozen backwardness from new scientific and technical discoveries, cannot be compared with the greatness of Turkestan, which was in the Middle Ages.
But let's not forget that in those days Russia had even more problems. After all, illiteracy and landlessness reigned in the territory of the empire. Therefore, be that as it may, the Russian invasion of Turkestan was not "civilizing."
The Bolshevik conquest under the slogan "Free the East from illiteracy and class enemies" was also a lie.
In fact, colonization and Sovietization occurred under the same slogan. That is, the main meaning of the conquests was that the local backward and illiterate. That why the mission of the colonialists and the Bolsheviks  were "civilizing."
In fact, the state of illiteracy and public education in Russian villages in the late XIX - early XX centuries. was terrible. In the Russian historical literature there is detailed information about this.
The Russian intelligentsia also left truly great deeds about Russian illiteracy and serf slavery from those times. As they say, “in the other's eye the speck is visible, but in own timber it is difficult to distinguish.”  According to which what divine decree, the colonists and the Bolsheviks hung up and dead people. Where did the Christian benevolence and Bolshevik equality go?
C: In those years were opened new schools with new methods. Locals got acquainted with progressive teaching methods. Was there no benefit?
Sh.B: Even if this is true, but who gave them the right to shoot, kill local intellectuals - Jadid enlighteners, teachers, writers and poets? After all, they were educated people.
By the way, who killed these people themselves did not know to read and write, if you do not take into account the smallest part.
Is it possible to kill people because of illiteracy? Where is the logic here? Absurd, but, alas, a fact.
From the creation to the collapse of the Soviet system, the priority affairs of the Bolsheviks were murder, robbery, violence, illegal courts and exile to Siberia. All this is confirmed by the documents of eyewitnesses of those years, which are preserved in the archives.
It is no secret that the invaders eventually borrowed, selected the ideas of the Jadids, after which they began to organize educational campaigns. As you see, robbery takes place not only in the material, but also in the spiritual and educational sphere.
The Lunacharsk program to eradicate illiteracy began to be implemented in the late 20s and early 30s. But before that, local residents of Turkestan had their own enlighteners, and they opened schools for children.
Russian schools, opened with the assistance of the colonialists, did not exist for the local peasants, but for the children of the local nobility. All this has already been proved by Russian and European scientists.
When the Bolsheviks first invaded Turkestan, they were staffed with criminals and terrorists. Every “rabble” collected from the trenches of the First World War, people with a crippled fate and anger in their hearts could not be enlighteners. Armed criminals and people who left the trenches of the First World War cannot become civilizers.
This is a fact there was no enlightenment on their part until the 30s.
Since when to kill, hang, cut and shoot is considered a culture? Any culture expert would hardly have understood such a "culture".
C: Basically, you are disclosing the dark sides of the enslavement of Turkestan by the Russian Empire and have written several books about the terrorist acts of Dashnaks in Turkestan, and you are not afraid that you may be misunderstood?
Sh.B: No, I am not afraid. Someone has to highlight the tragic history of his people. The tragic historical events that took place in their native land and in the fate of their native people. It seems to me it is the problem of the every person who loves his or her homeland. After all we have not always been at the height of fame, as in the days of the Karakhanids, Seljuks, Khorezmshahs and Temurids.
In relations between nations, good, positive feelings and sympathies will never be superfluous, it does not interfere with one another. But in the matter of discussing and understanding the essence of international law, international and ethnic terrorism, it is advisable to approach these problems without emotion and without bias to one or another ethnos. Moreover, when analyzing and evaluating such problems, nationality is irrelevant, but human values are the main barometer.
The fate of the people and the homeland must always excite and inspire scientists, writers and poets. For, for every adequate person, the tragedy of his people is emotional distress, pain, grief and sadness.Awarenessing the culture of country, the history, traditions and customs of native people by the every citizen always serves the progress of society. This is due to the fact that each historical stage of the evolution of society begins with a positive understanding of a person’s personal relationship to the past of own homeland.
One thing is gratifying that there are different opinions, but in spite of different understandings of the essence of the matter, the fact remains. Especially, if the fact is confirmed by many authors on the basis of reports of witnesses and archival documents. Despite how events will be interpreted, the essence of the fact will not change. It is clear to specialists that the fact of a historical event does not depend on who and how, when he said or wrote about it.
Similar facts about the same historical event, given from the works of various authoritative and well-known scientists around the world community, their quotes, theses, statements, opinions, statements and evaluations of this event, on the contrary, increase interest in the event, and people will look for similar events from stories and supporting facts. Modern people should be aware of how and why and in what situation external forces can destroy independent statehood. The aspiration of man to the knowledge of the unknown has not yet been canceled.
C: The colonial and Bolshevik periods are already in the past, what does it matter to the current situation and what can you say about those people who are nostalgic for the USSR?
