An attempted military coup against Pashinyan...

A statement by the Armenian General Staff has just been published calling for Nikol Pashinyan's resignation.

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan immediately fired the head of the General Staff O. Kasparyan, calling it an attempted coup d'etat, and called on his supporters to take to the streets.

Things are not so simple, the Edgu News reports, as the army, police and people are seriously divided into supporters and opponents.

Currently, the pro-Pashinyan police have begun to organize the protection of objects of state importance.

Other anti-Pashinyan police forces are trying to prevent supporters of the prime minister from taking to the streets.

Russia expressed concern over the situation and called on the parties to act rationally. On the other hand, the Kremlin called the situation an internal affair of Armenia. However, there is an opinion in Yerevan that Moscow can openly intervene in the situation at any moment.

International media assess this process as a decisive battle between the West and Russia for Armenia.

According to the latest information received from Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan personally participates in the rally and he is expected to address the people.

Our comment: Pashinyan's criticism of the Russian defense industry has drained Moscow's patience. Apparently, taking into account all the risks, the Kremlin will try to achieve its goal in Yerevan.
